Holidip

Dip with Crackers

This is the best dip recipe I have ever come across.  It is quick and simple to throw together with items I almost always have on hand and everyone who tries it loves it.

I was actually introduced to this dip several years ago, when one of my husband's co-workers gave us some.  I pestered her relentlessly for the recipe.  She finally handed it over, but asked that I not share it because it was kind of a family secret.  I, of course, honored her request.

Recently, my mom gave me a couple of recipe boxes that belonged to my grandmother.  While going through one of the boxes, I was shocked to find the recipe for this dip.  The ingredients were exactly the same, but the proportions were slightly different. I tried the dip with Grandma's proportions and found that the dip was every bit as tasty as the original one I had been making for years.

So now, I can share the recipe for this dip without feeling like I am betraying a friend.  I will keep the proportions of her recipe a secret, and only share the recipe I found in my grandma's box.

This recipe couldn't be simpler to prepare.  Just toss mayo, sour cream, dried minced onions, parsley flakes, dill weed, and Beau Monde seasoning in a bowl.

Beau Monde seasoning can sometimes be hard to find.  It is made by Spice Islands and if you can't find it in your local grocery store, you can find it on Amazon.

Mix it up until everything is well incorporated, and then transfer to a prettier serving dish, or enjoy it right out of the prep bowl.

We enjoy this dip served with veggies, crackers, chips, or chunks of crusty bread. I have also been known to slather it on a sandwich when I have some of it hanging out in the fridge. It is our favorite!

This recipe does not make a lot, but it doubles easily if your are preparing it for a larger group.  The smaller recipe works great when I am just making it for my family.

This dip also stores really well.  Once prepared, it will last in the refrigerator for about a week.
