Crispy Homemade Baked Fries

In my last post, I mentioned that I had developed a method for making the best homemade crispy baked French Fries.  Today, I am sharing this method with you.  It is so easy and results in the perfect, crispy homemade fries of your dreams.

The great thing about this method, is it can be adapted to your needs. Want thinner, crispy fries? Cut your potatoes thinner.  Prefer potato wedges?  Cut them into wedges. If you prefer simple fries seasoned with just salt, they will be perfect.  Want something a little fancier with rosemary and parmesan?  Go for it!  Be as simple or as creative as you want. And whether you need a lot of fries, or just a few, you can easily adapt this method to meet your needs.

I will walk you through the method, and then provide a recipe card for these delicious baked fries at the end of the post.

Cut your potatoes into your desired size/shape.  You can use a fancy slicer/mandolin to cut your fries perfectly, or just use a knife, like I did, for a more homemade, rustic look.

Put the cut potatoes into a pan of appropriate size and cover with water.  Bring the water to a boil and parboil the fries about 4-5 minutes for thinner cut fries, up to 8-10 minutes for larger wedges.  The potatoes should be slightly tender, but not soft.

Drain the water off the potatoes and then dump the fries onto a baking sheet (mine is lined with my favorite parchment paper)

Then drizzle the fries with oil and season as desired.  I used olive oil and seasoned salt, onion powder, and garlic powder.

Toss the fries with the oil and seasonings until all the fries are well-coated.

Arrange the potatoes in a single even layer over the baking sheet.

Bake at 425 F until crispy and golden.  About 35-55 minutes, depending on the size you cut the potatoes.

Remove from the oven and enjoy!
