Around the House - Open Shelving in the Kitchen

I am popping in today to share the open shelving in my kitchen.  This was originally decorated in blues and greens, but when I put up my new black and white tile backsplash behind my range,  I decided I wanted to switch things up a bit and use black and white on these shelves as well.

I didn't take a before picture but I sifted through some old pictures of my kitchen and found this not-so-good peek at what it looked like before.  I liked it this way, but I was ready for a change.

Here is the after.  Please ignore the marks on my countertop.  It isn't dirty.  The butcher block needs to be refinished, and that is such a big job that I am putting it off, until I have more time and energy.

Now for a better look at the actual shelves.  I mostly had to use stuff I had on hand, so I am still keeping my eyes out for any cute black and white stuff that would work here.

I also want to mention that I use everything on these shelves, with the exception of the grass in the pots on the top shelf.  I love it when open shelving is functional as well as pretty.
