Homemade Chocolate Syrup - For Chocolate Milk

 

I love chocolate milk, but I don't drink it very often.  However, my husband and boys drink it all the time.  So, in order to feel just a little better about the syrup they are using, (seriously don't love all the junky ingredients in the commercial preparations) I try to make this chocolate syrup for them instead.

Yes - it is still full of sugar, but at least I can control the type of sugar and other ingredients that I put into the syrup.

And this syrup is goooood!  It mixes easily into the milk and results in a nice full chocolatey flavor.  It would be good over ice cream too.

This recipe does require boiling hot sugar, so be careful if you have little ones around.

Once you have made this and it has cooled, store it covered in the refrigerator.  I can't tell you for sure how long it will stay good, because I don't think I have ever had a batch of it last more than a week around here.
