Christmas Touches in the Hutch

Well, I honestly feel just a little silly sharing my Christmas touches in my China Hutch with you, since I don't think I have ever actually shared this hutch before.  It was a Craigslist find a few years ago, and it needed a lot of love to get it into the pretty shape it is in now, but I love it.  It was worth all the work.  It is a happy little space in my dining room.

Today I am sharing the Christmas touches I have added to it, but I will try to share it again when things are back to normal in January.

I don't think you necessarily have to go overboard to add some Christmas feeling to your home.  If you want to keep it simple, easy, and inexpensive, one of the simplest things you can do to add a little Christmas color and cheer to a china cabinet is to put some candy canes in a cup or two.  I love how festive they look and amazingly, my boys have been good about leaving these alone.  I know that once I give them the go-ahead the candy canes will be long gone.

I also found these Santa mugs on clearance a couple of years ago.  I just put them in the hutch to add a little more holiday color.

On the bottom shelf I added our "Cookies for Santa" plate and a few more candy canes.  This completed our touches of red in the hutch.  These additions are very simple, but I think they are just enough to make it special for this time of year.

Finally,  I hung this cute twig star on the knob of the door.  I think it finishes the whole thing off.

I love this little bit of Christmas in the china hutch!
