Breadsticks - Mom's Recipe Box

I'm sharing this recipe for simple breadsticks today.  This is another one from my mom's recipe box, that I have been slowly working my way through.  When I ran across this one, I actually remembered my mom making these breadsticks a few times when I was growing up, and they were just as good when I made them as I remember them being when she made them.

They are very similar to my Fast and Easy Breadsticks.  They just have a few different ingredients and the taste and texture are ever so slightly different.  While I don't think I will ever abandon my fast and easy breadsticks recipe, this one definitely gives it a run for its money.

After the dough is mixed and kneaded and given a quick rise, you pat it into a rectangle.

Then cut the dough into strips.  I use a pizza cutter to do this.

Give the strips of dough a twist and place them on a greased or parchment lined baking sheet.  Put them right next to each other.  That will help them stay twisted as well as help them rise in the oven.

Cover with a clean dishtowel and let them raise for 15 minutes.  Then brush with melted butter and sprinkle with salt.

Bake to golden brown yumminess!

These breadsticks are so good.  I hope you give them a try.
