Sheet Pan Rice Krispie Treats - No-Bake Summer Treats Series
Today I am sharing my favorite method of making the classic Rice Krispy Treats, but on a sheet pan and with a few additions that make these yummy and easy little goodies even more delicious.
With the Summer heat upon us, I decided it would be a good time to do a little series with a few of my favorite no-bake treats. After all, who wants to turn on the oven and heat up the house in the heat of the summer? However, Summer also brings barbecues, cookouts, and pool parties, not to mention kids at home who often want a treat. So, over the next few weeks, I will be sharing some of my favorite no-bake treats that you can take to that next picnic, or satisfy the sweet tooth of your hungry kids and their friends without ever having to fire up the oven.
I have already shared my favorite recipe for no-bake cookies years ago. They have been our go-to summer cookie for years, but I would say that these Sheet Pan Rice Krispie Treats are a close second.
These Sheet Pan Rice Krispie Treats are perfect to take to parties because they feed a crowd, or you can use them for bake sales by cutting the treats nice and big and wrapping them up individually. Or if you are feeding your kids along with half the neighborhood kids, this pan of treats will ensure that no one is left out.
One of my favorite things to do is to set some mini marshmallows aside and add them with the cereal. That way you get little pockets of extra marshmallow throughout the bars. It is so yummy!
And if you really have patience take the time to brown the butter before adding the marshmallows. So good, but admittedly I usually don't have the patience for it, since, to me, Marshmallow Krispie Treats are about ease.
Since I hate dishes, I throw the conventional method of measuring the Rice Krispies into a bowl and then pouring the melted marshmallow mixture over the top, out the window. Instead, I melt the butter and marshmallows in my big stock pot, add a little salt and vanilla, and then remove from the heat and add the Rice Krispies (and reserved marshmallows) to the pan, and combine well before putting the mixture onto the sheet pan. The treats still turn out perfectly and less dishes for me. Hooray!
